You can’t speak of strawberries in the province of Huelva without mentioning the Martín family, with more than 30 years of family tradition that has managed to capture the best of its past and the innovative opportunities that the present and future has offered. PHASES
After years of experimental research we have developed a totally innovative production process. The optimization and the exhaustive control of all the process, from planting to customer delivery, ensure our objective: the highest quality. Food security and the traceability of the product are ensured in every stage of the process.
planting
Planting takes place in the month of October, once the plant has the necessary hours of cold in the nursery. The plants are planted with bare roots, two rows per ridge.
growing
The strawberry is a delicate plant as far as its cultivation, for which it needs special attention and suitable temperatures, giving rise to the need for careful handling of the macrotunnels. Regarding fertirrigation, knowledge about the needs of this crop is essential so as not to harm its development at any stage.
picking
Picking the strawberry at its maturity point, thus taking full advantage of the performance of the plant, is a very important point to take into account.
reception
Receiving is done in a warehouse after passing through quality control, in which the level of the product can be assessed. At this point the classification of each variety is done.
cold tunnel
Once in the warehouse they pass through the field chambers so as not to break the cold chain of the fruit and so there are no problems when it comes to handling.
quality control
In the same warehouse, the strawberries pass through two stages of quality control, one in reception mentioned above, and another after handling in which the packaging, labeling and weight are assessed.
packing
The different formats travel on conveyors to adjust each one for weight, and then move on to the packaging, labeling and fitting stages.
palletizing
Once the boxes are completed, they are assembled onto a pallet, according to the format agreed to by the customer. Boxing and strapping machines are used to form the pallet. The boxes are labeled on the outside and a pallet label is affixed to control traceability.
cold tunnel
Once the pallets are completed they are transferred to the cold tunnel to keep them at 4ºC until transport arrives.
distribution
At the end of the whole process the transport picks up the agreed order, maintaining the product at its optimum temperature until arriving at its destination.
